"Bohemia grew as a self-conscious refusal of ordinary existance. Bohemians wanted not just to produce poetry but to realize it in their surroundings every day." - from "Low Life" (page 303) by Luc Sante

---------------------------

Earlier this evening my brother and I sat in the audience for tonight's episode of The Hour where we saw journalist Chris Hughes talk about his new book "American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War On America." The interview is already online here.

Song: "Where is My Mind" The Pixies. I am on a huge Pixies kick, AGAIN. I love the high pitched "ooooooo. STOP." at the beginning. I don't know why but when I was a teenager the song "This Happening" always made me feel sad. I couldn't listen to it again until I was 19 and even then I could only dish it out in small doses.

And "A Hazy Shade of Winter" Simon and Garfunkel. 'Cause it's cold out there!
