A few nights ago my brother said to me:

"The other day I was riding the streetcar and I saw a woman wearing a ton of makeup on her face. All of a sudden I thought to myself 'You don't need that. Why are you doing that to yourself?' I realised right then how much our culture, our world makes us hate ourselves... cultivates our self-hatred.

It's not something new, something I didn't know already. But at that moment I really understood it."
